Customer Testimonials

Discover how schools, offices, and businesses use wall paint solutions to create engaging and practical environments.

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply

The whiteboard wall paint was extremely easy to apply – and the customer service was accessible and helpful so I was delighted to give a review for this whiteboard paint and company! As a teacher you try to present as many different ways as possible to teach a concept and having the extra large dry erase wall helped us to teach concepts, facilitate games and student bonding and write instructions. We have no problem erasing everything with a multi purpose sponge eraser! It has been a HUGE learning tool for our classroom and we are forever grateful.

Turning Complex Workflows into Clear Action

At any one time I work on 8-10 initiatives and your dry erase marker paint has enabled me to better visualize what I need to do. It’s useful for brainstorming and process evaluation, so much so that we’ve recently purchased it for our marketing department. It’s a great fit for our company and a 5 start review for whiteboard paint.

FAQ's

General Product Questions

What surface can I apply black chalkboard paint on?

Black chalkboard Paint is suitable for use on plaster, wallboard, wood, metal, plastic and concrete. It is important to use a White Primer or any water-based primer to prime the surface before application. For indoor use only.

Can you use black chalkboard paint on furniture?

Yes, black chalkboard paint can be applied to furniture, as well as walls, desks, partitions, and other smooth, non-porous surfaces.

Application & Usage

What should I do once I’ve painted my chalkboard?

Once applied to your wall allow it to fully dry for 24 hours and then condition your blackboard surface by rubbing a piece of chalk all over the surfaces and wiping off with a dry cloth or duster.

How many coats of black chalkboard paint do you need?

Each tin of Black Chalkboard Paint contains .20 of a gallon or 750ml of paint that covers 65 sq ft with two coats. For best results, apply two coats of black chalkboard paint, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second.

Surface Prep & Priming

Can you put black chalkboard paint on metal?

Yes, black chalkboard paint can stick to metal surfaces. However, there are a few factors to ensure proper adhesion and durability. Clean and lightly sand the surface, apply one or two coats of White Primer, then finish with two coats of black chalkboard paint. Allow it to dry before use fully.

Do you need to prime before black chalkboard paint?

We recommend applying Smarter Surfaces black chalkboard paint onto a previously primed surface or painted surface. If applying onto an uncoated surface, we recommend applying two coats of a water-based primer such as White Primer to prepare the surface.

Cleaning & Maintenance

How to clean a black chalkboard wall?

You can use standard blackboard dusters to clean your surface on a regular basis. Like all blackboards, regular use will cause a build up of chalk dust on your wall. To remove excess dust, you can clean your Blackboard Surface with water on a damp cloth.

Functionality & Performance

Can you use chalk markers on black chalk wall paint?

Your blackboard surface can be used like a normal blackboard. You can use standard chalk and chalkboard markers to write on your surface. Chalkboard markers are wet-erase and can be cleaned off by using a damp cloth.

How to make black chalkboard wall paint magnetic?

Apply magnetic paint beneath the black chalkboard wall paint. Smarter Surfaces offers three magnetic products. Choose the one that matches the magnetic strength needed for your project.

Safety & Environmental

What safety factors must be considered when applying Blackboard Paint?

  • If the paint comes into contact with your skin, wash the area with warm, soapy water.
  • In case of contact with eyes, thoroughly rinse with clean water and seek medical advice
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Ensure room is adequately ventilated during application and drying
